About...
Although my sister, brother and I regularly day tripped to Scarborough and Sand Hill Cove beaches with our parents while growing up, my wife and her love for the beach and people she grew up explain my ongoing presence here. We met at URI in 1972. Ever since, we have spent our summer months visiting her parents' at their family home in Scarborough Hills or the one we purchased close to Black Point in 2011. We settled here permanently in 2017.
I was born in Providence and raised there, and in Warwick, graduating URI in 1974.
In early career years, I worked as a Congressional staff aide and labor organizer. I also led a nonprofit education/training organization devoted to strengthening democratic self governance and directed the philanthropic, social investment and community relations initiatives of a Fortune 50 insurer.
In 1995, I joined the University of Connecticut's senior leadership team. Over the next 21 years, I led UConn's initiatives to:
Modernize campus water and sewer infrastructure
Manage the growth of student housing on or near campus,
Permanently conserve more than 500 acres of sensitive watershed land
Develop a vibrant mixed use retail/commerical center
Create and permit a $1 billion state supported bioscience facilities initiative
Create Connecticut's first statewide Water Supply Plan
I presently Chair Narragansett’s Planning Board and have served on either Narragansett's Zoning or Planning Board since 2022.
In retirement, I remain a devoted husband, loving father of two daughters, doting grandfather to four grandchildren, and admiring brother of a former small town mayor. I’ve also served as interim President and CEO for a non-profit housing developer and an advisor for an apprenticeship development program, both based in Providence.
